Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2023

Walking or cycling to school is such a great thing to do – whether it’s a one-off or a daily routine for you and your family.

Not only is it much more fun than driving or taking the bus, it’s also great for physical and mental health, plus the environment and your pocket.

Sustrans' Big Walk and Wheel is taking place from 20 until 31 March 2023 and is the UK's largest walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling challenge. Sustrans aims to inspire children to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit everyone.

Last year, school children made over 2 million journeys to school by foot, wheelchair, scooter and cycle - join in this year to be entered into a daily prize draw!

Register your school now to take part

Your children's school needs to be registered for your children to take part. You can do this or you can ask your school to do this.

There are free resources available for schools, including lessons plans and assembly presentations.

Schools will be entered into a daily prize draw for rewards including equipment and accessories if over 15% of school children walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle on that day of the challenge.

Over 2,000 schools are already registered at the time of writing, so get in touch with your school now to get them to take part.
