Black Friday deals on kids bikes – our pick of the bargains
It’s not long until Black Friday weekend (I know – it’s gone from a day to a weekend!). The run up to, and weekend of, Black Friday (and it’s younger sibling, Cyber Monday) can be a great time to grab a cheap, good quality, kids bike in time for Christmas, or stock up on kids cycle clothing and accessories for next year’s riding. However, it’s easy to get carried away and end up buying something you don’t really need, or else miss the genunie bargains. It’s worth doing a bit of investigations first to decide exactly what you want, and then return over the run up to Black Friday (24th November 2017), and again on the day to see if any deals exist.
Remember, you may actually get the best deal before Black Friday. Retailers are keen to sell of 2017 models to make way for 2018 models, and once the bikes have gone, there are no more!
Not all the current deals are listed under Black Friday – some retailers are also having general sales too! Thankfully Cycle Sprog is here to help you find the best deals in each site.
Local Bike Shops
Most of Black Friday takes place on-line, but it’s also worth checking to see if your local independent bike shop is having any discounts as they clear out 2017 stock to make way for the 2018 models. We should all be supporting them as much as possible – use them or loose them, as the saying goes. They offer the option to try before you buy, help with assembling and maintaining your bikes and have a wealth of knowledge about what bike will suit your child best. I’ve tried to include some smaller independent chains as well as the big names in this post, but obviously can’t cover your local independent bike shop.
I’ll be updating this post (and writing others) as Black Friday gets nearer, so bookmark this page and return again next week. So far, I think that the best places to look for Black Friday deals on kids bikes are as follows:
Tredz Bikes Black Friday discounts and voucher codes
Tredz are the “premium bike” arm, of a group of companies that also includes Halfords and Wheelies. They stock a good range of quality kids bikes including Frog Bikes, Cube, Dawes, Early Rider, Marin, Mondraker, Giant, Bobbin, Genesis, Scott, Saracen, Specialized and Wishbone amongst others. They also do a good range of kids cycling accessories and clothing.
Tredz have started their Black Friday bargains early with a “Black Ticket” event which has a selection of bikes, acessories and clothing reduced, including 33% off the Cube Kid 160 Action Team 16W 2017 model – currently down from £239 to £159
Tredz are also offering Cycle Sprog readers 10% off 2017 kids bikes.
Use code Sprog10 to get 10% discount on 2017 kids and junior bikes
ACTIVATE CODE ==> 2017 KIDS BIKES – (balance bike through to 18″ wheels)
ACTIVATE CODE ==> 2017 JUNIOR BIKES (20″ – 24″ wheels)
This Tredz 10% discount code is valid until 11pm on 22nd November 2017
Use code SNG7NYG2 to get £10 off every purchase over £75
We’ve listed the exclusions, and identified some of the best bargains on kids bikes at Tredz in this other post.
Evans have started their Black Friday deals early this year. There’s not much in the way of kids clothing included, but they have some kids bikes heavily discounted with the 2017 Charge Cooker Alloy bikes reduced by 25% – the 20″ is down from £349.99 to £260 (pictured) and the 24″ bikes reduced from £369.99 to £275.
Evans Cycles Free £25 gift card with every Hoy or Pinnacle kids bike
Evans Cycles are also offering a free £25 gift card with every Hoy or Pinnacle kids bike until stocks last. Both brands are well specified – Hoy are at the premium end and Pinnacle at the value end of the price spectrum – both come with child sized components and an excellent reputation.
Wiggle are huge, and are likely to have a similarly huge number of products in their Black Friday weekend sale.
They have a 4 week run up to the main event, with a selection of products heavily discounted. This kids Camelbak hydration pack is down to just £15 from £49.99
We’ve got the version without pockets for our youngest Cycle Sprog, and I’ve just bought this one as he’s now ready to upgrade to carrying his own stuff – at £15 I can’t believe my luck!
Wiggle also have a discount code for clothing, footwear and protection:
Save £15 when you spend £100 – using code save15-1
Save £40 when you spend £200 – using code save40-1
Wiggle have a good range of kids cycling clothing and helmets, including dhb, Altura, Giro and Bell.
Some products are also just in a general sale, such as this pink Bell helmet which comes in sizes XS and S for toddlers and younger riders. It’s down to just £11.99 making it a really cheap kids cycling helmet.
Of course Wiggle also sell kids bikes! Their biggest deal at the moment is for older kids into road riding – the Eddy Merckx Enghien 61 Kids Road Bike (26″ wheels) which is down from £999.99 to £349.99
Rutland Cycles are having a massive stock clearance of 2017 bikes, with a few kids bikes heavily discounted.
Sadly, Genesis are pulling out of the kids bike market, and Rutland are selling off the Alpha 24″ wheel (pictured) and Beta 26″ wheel kids bikes with up to a 40% discount. Top quality kids bikes at a greatly reduced price.
Rutland Cycling also have some Pre-Black Friday deals, with some of the cheapest branded kids cycle clothing on sale we’ve found – obviously most of it is summer weight, but it’s a great chance to stock up now for next summer. These Kids Scott padded trail shorts are down from £35.99 to just £8.00!!
Tweeks Cycles have started their Black Friday discounting early. When I looked they had a lot of adult bikes discounted (great if you’re looking to treat yourself, but only one Cube Balance Bike on their Black Friday deals. However,I managed to set up a filter to see all the discounted kids bikes, whether they fall into the Black Friday deal or not.
They too have the Genesis Beta 26 Road bike with 35% off plus some discounts on Kiddimoto balance bikes with the Super Moto Junior balance bike down from £59.99 to £47.99
Tweeks also have some kids helmets reduced for all head sizes from toddlers through to youth sizes. The Limar Youth Champ helmet is down from £47.99 to £31.19 and comes in three colours – blue, pink and black
Leisure Lakes Bikes
Family run Leisure Lakes Bikes have 9 stores all on the western side of England from Lancaster south to Cheltenham, and one in Newport, Wales, plus an online store. This year they have a large number of Black Friday deals. I sometimes struggle with the speed of their website, so if you can persevre with it you may be rewarded with some great deals!
For example this Altura Spark Bamboo top is down from £14.99 to £5.00 with sizes starting from age 5 and upwards.
Hargroves are a family business with six stores in the south of England, plus an online shop. They haven’t released details of their Black Friday deals yet, but they too are selling off some of their 2017 stock cheaply already. They’ve currently got all the 2017 Ridgeback kids bikes on special offer (making way for the new branding coming in 2018). At the time of writing, you’re financially better off buying these bikes at Tredz (with the exclusive Cycle Sprog 10% discount code), but if Tredz have sold out of the size you want, then Hargroves are worth checking out, as they’re also discounting heavily.
It’s worth a quick peek at the ProBikeKit kids clearance pages if you’re wanting to kit your child out with some new cycling gear as they’re selling off 2017 stock. The kids Team GB replica shirts are now discounted to £17.99
Amazon Black Friday deals
It’s impossible to keep up with the Black Friday deals on Amazon!! Some are lightning deals that last a few minutes, others last all day.
Amazon are having lightning deals every few minutes between now and Cyber Monday – so far it seems to be focused on cycle maintenance and equipment such as pumps, lights and tool kits – with some amazing discounts.
Prime Members often get access to the deals 30 minutes before other customers, so it’s worth taking out membership if you think you’re going be buying anything big, or shop their often – the savings on postage over the course of a year outweigh the costs quite quickly if you’re a regular Amazon user. You can sign up now for a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime, which will take you through to just before Christmas.
Useful Amazon Black Friday links:
- Cycling Black Friday Deals (including bikes, car bike racks, lights and helmets)
- Outdoor Clothing Deals (kids and adult sizes – there is no filter)
- Sports and Outdoors Deals (including tents and rucksacks)
- Sports Technology Deals (including GPS, cameras and film recorders)
It’s impossible to know what will be reduced when, but in general, Amazon is a good place to get balance bikes – they stock both the Strider and Puky ranges of balance bikes, which were highly recommended in our recent “Best Balance Bikes” article. Whilst Amazon isn’t the best place to buy bigger kids bikes, it’s usually good for accessories such as kids winter gloves, helmets and clothing. Plus they have a great selection of kids cycling books and maps, so it’s worth keeping an eye out throughout the weekend to see what gets discounted.

Little Pro specialise in kids cycling clothing and they are planning some brilliant discounts for Black Friday. They already have some great discounts on their website, including their Deal of the Week, which is this Polaris Mini Strike cycling jersey down from £24.99 to £12.99
Halfords – Black Friday deals
Halfords sell the Wiggins kids bike range so it’s worth keeping an eye open to see whether these bikes get any discounting (although they’re already very good value!)

Chain Reaction Cycles
CRC are also having a weekly countdown sale, with new products becoming available every Thursday. They don’t have much for kids, but there are a couple of items of downhill clothing with huge discounts.
Some of the clothing in their Black Friday deals comes in XS, which may be suitable for large children / teens.
Black Friday deals on kids bikes
Obviously we’re totally at the mercy of the retailers in terms of the Black Friday deals – things sell out and other deals get added. The deals shown about were all valid on Monday 20th November at 9am – but obviously stock sells out quickly.
There are definitely some great deals on 2017 models as the retailers make way for next years stock. Some retailers will sell out of the real deals before Black Friday, so it’s worth checking on their websites and buying when you see a good price, to avoid disappointment.
Good luck in your hunt, and of course, you might just find a bargain bike for yourself while you’re at it!!
We’ll update this page if we find out about any other Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on kids bikes, so do come back and check regularly over the next few weeks.
