Black Friday deals on kids bikes at Evans Cycles
Evans are still running their discounts this week, even though Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over
If you’re looking for a bargain kids bike, Black Friday is the day in 2017 you might be lucky! I’m taking a look at what is available in the online sales in terms of kids bikes and cycling clothing / accessories. Here’s my summary of what you’ll find at the Evans Cycles Black Friday Sale.
In initially I was quite disappointed with Evans as they didn’t seem to have much listed under Black Friday in terms of family cycling. Yes, they have got a lot of kids Claud Butler bikes heavily reduced, but specification wise, I think you’re better off shopping around.
The two bikes that did catch my eyes were the Charge Cookers. They’re a kids bike designed for getting off road and muddy and come specced with wide Kenda tyres and disc brakes.
Both bikes are being sold at at Wiggle for the full price, so the Black Friday reduction on them at Evans Cycles is genuine. The bikes are lightweight for the money you’re paying. They don’t have unnecessary suspension and should be great for riding out in the woods and along gentle trails – there’s a single chain ring at the front to keep changing gear simple. Plus they look great, and with disc brakes will make your child feel really special! The Charge Cooker 20 comes in green or pink and is down from £349 to £260. The larger version – Charge Cooker 24 comes in pale blue or silver and is reduced from £369 to £275.
However, when I delved a bit deeper into Evans site I realise that whilst they haven’t really got much listed in their main Black Friday deals, there are some good offers on kids bikes and clothing that have been running for a while. I’ve noticed their website is a bit slow today – I guess everyone is trying to get a good Black Friday bargain!
Evans Cycles Deals on Kids Bikes
Evans have been having a kids bike sale for a few weeks now, and it seems that most of the 2017 models have at least 10% off – some a lot more. A couple of things that caught my eye are:
The Adventure Zoom balance bike – a great lightweight bike that will have your little one moving up to pedals quickly and confidently when the time comes. This balance bikes is reduced from £99 to £69 (30% saving)
For older kids, the Kona Jake is a kid-specific 24″ wheel cyclocross, gravel-trail, road-training bike, which has 15% – down from £699 to £594. Even in the sale it’s not cheap, but you do get what you pay for in terms of specification and weight.
For older kids looking to transition between kids and adult bikes, and moving onto road cycling, the Specialized Allez 650c is worth a look. It’s reduced from £400 to £320 – a 20% discount.
Evans Cycles Free £25 gift card with every Hoy or Pinnacle kids bike
Evans Cycles are also offering a free £25 gift card with every Hoy or Pinnacle kids bike until stocks last. Both brands are well specified – Hoy are at the premium end and Pinnacle at the value end of the price spectrum – both come with child sized components and an excellent reputation.
Evans Sale and Christmas storage / delivery
Evans are also offering a free Christmas Click and Collect service. You can order the bikes now and have them delivered FREE OF CHARGE to your local store by Friday 15th December 2017.
Once the bike has arrived in store, the Evans staff will contact you to arrange a convenient time to collect it before Christmas – they’ll even get it built up for you. It’s worth bearing in mind that this is a popular service (so some days will be busier than others) but most stores are open until 8pm during the week and until 4pm on Sunday 24th December.
Alternatively you can pay £4.99 for Christmas delivery of the bike to your home if that suits you better.
So, you can buy a cheap kids bike today in the Black Friday sale and not have to worry about where to hide it until Christmas – result!
Kids Clothing and accessories at Evans Cycles
Evans do a good range of kids cycling clothing and helmets. As with the kids bikes, they don’t have much (if anything) listed under their Black Friday deals, but instead the just have a lot of items on general clearance. Obviously stock is reducing quickly, and as this is 2017 stock once it’s gone it really has gone! It’s a great chance to stock up on kit ready for next summer (although there are a few winter items reduced too).
A couple of things that caught my eye were this pink Altura short sleeve top which at the time I looked was available in ages 5 though 12 years, and was down from £28.49 to £8.55 – a 69% discount.
They’ve also got some good deals on other Altura children’s cycling kit, such as Mitts, Jerseys and Jackets.
For winter cycling this Specialized top sounds as if it will keep kids toasty when it’s cold outside. It’s reduced down from £42 to £25.20 a saving of 40%.
Evans also have some child bike seats reduced, along with the racks you need to attach to the adult bike.
