Read our reviewThe Vitus Nucleus 26 was designed from scratch for young mountain bikers, taking styling cues from the adult range with progressive geometry and components sized for younger riders. It came well-specified, with hydraulic disc brakes, a short stem and wide bars for control, a single-ring drivetrain with a broad spread of gears, and a Suntour XCR-DS-LO air fork with 100mm of travel that could be tuned to the rider’s weight.
This model was discontinued in October 2023 when Wiggle went into administration, so it’s secondhand only. Vitus has since been relaunched under new ownership with a new generation of mountain bikes, but this version is no longer in production.
Our youngest Sprog spent an entire summer on the 2019 version and loved it — you can see him riding it at Bike Park Wales in his Sprog Blog and read our more detailed review of the Vitus Nucleus 26 here.
If you spot one second-hand, it could be a great buy – but inspect it carefully. It’s a mountain bike, so it may have led an adventurous life!
