Here at Cycle Sprog, we’re always interested in hearing about new kids’ bike brands on the market, especially those that aim to make cycling more accessible to families. Cycling with kids can be pricey for some parents, but there’s a good range of low-to-medium budget bikes that perform well, hopefully making money less of a barrier. The best kids bikes will not only set them up for a lifelong love of cycling, but also feel reasonably priced for what they offer. As such, a new name that recently caught our attention is Shyre Bikes.
A newcomer to the UK children’s bike market, Shyre is positioning itself as a brand that puts real riding and real value at the heart of everything it does. Whether your youngster is just starting out on two wheels or already out exploring the local trails, the Shyre range offers thoughtfully designed bikes aimed at helping little riders develop their skills and confidence.
In this overview, we take a closer look at what the Shyre Bikes range has to offer.

Who are Shyre Bikes?
Shyre Bikes was founded by husband and wife duo, Kev & Michelle Williams, who spotted a gap in the market after running a family business that sold bikes from other cycling brands. While there were budget bikes and premium options on the market, there was less middle-ground choice for parents wanting high-spec builds at a more affordable price point.
Drawing on experience and advice from industry experts, Shyre set out to create a new type of kids' bike brand: one that prioritised quality products, long-lasting materials, and delivering a fun riding experience, all without the high-end price tag.
Working with a global manufacturing partner, the brand combines modern bike technology with a nod to the 1990s British mountain biking scene that inspired its name. This nod to the ‘shires’ of the UK brings a sense of nostalgia for parents who spent their childhoods exploring countryside trails and woodlands. Each model is named after well-known British trails: the first being Hopton Woods in Ludlow, and the forthcoming Eastie model is named after Eastridge in Shropshire.
The result is a growing range of lightweight, well-specced bikes designed for everyday riding and off-road exploration alike.
With excellent ratings on Trustpilot, Shyre Bikes are fast embedding themselves in the British kids bike scene, and have supplied a fleet of bikes to a Bikeability training provider in Shrewsbury.
What makes Shyre Bikes different?
While plenty of kids’ bikes look good on paper, it’s the small details that often make the biggest difference. Shyre Bikes aims to combine solid frame design, quality components, and family-friendly policies in a way that’s practical for everyday use.
Here are some of the standout features of their bikes:
Lightweight aluminium frames
A lighter bike is easier to handle, especially for younger children who are still developing their strength and skills. All Shyre models use aluminium frames to help kids ride further and stay in control.
Child-specific geometry
Their bikes are designed to fit properly and keep the rider’s centre of gravity balanced for confident handling, enabling children to tackle everything from park paths to family trail rides.
Mid-range pricing, solid value
While not the cheapest on the market, Shyre sits comfortably below more premium brands in price, offering a good mid-range point for parents who don’t want to break the bank, but want to invest in quality. The aim is to offer a more accessible route into cycling, especially for families who want something longer-lasting than a cheap bike-shaped toy.
Trade-in scheme
Kids grow fast, and bikes don’t last forever. Shyre’s Trade-In scheme allows families to return bikes for a guaranteed value (depending on their condition), which can be put towards the price of the next size up. It includes free postage for each bike, with the old bike being returned in the new box, and there's a 90-day return period as well. It’s a helpful option that takes the stress out of upgrading and also helps to divert bikes from landfill unnecessarily.
Top branded components
From the drivetrain to the brakes, Shyre has chosen reliable parts that are designed to deliver a smooth ride and last through lots of use. It’s a setup that should demand less time in the shed and more time out riding.
Lifetime frame warranty
All Shyre frames and forks are covered by a lifetime warranty for the original owner, giving parents extra confidence in their purchase.
Built for real adventures
These aren’t just pavement bikes; they’re made to be ridden, scraped, and fully tested by active kids. Whether your child is racing around the playground or heading up their first forest climb, Shyre bikes are built to keep them moving (and smiling).
90-day Happiness Guarantee
If the fit or feel isn’t quite right, Shyre offers a 90-day window for a swap or refund, which is a reassuring policy when buying online or trying a new brand for the first time.

Shyre Bikes range overview
The Shyre range currently covers wheel sizes from 16" to 24", with a 26" model forthcoming, aimed at children aged roughly 4 to 11 years (if you’re not sure, we can help you figure out what size kids bike your child needs).
Each bike comes in a choice of colours, with a sleek design and a purposeful look that should appeal to kids without being overly flashy.
As things currently stand, you can also get a free branded helmet with every bike purchase, while stocks last.

Shyre Hopton 16
A great introduction to pedal bikes for 4–6 year olds. Lightweight and confidence-inspiring, it’s ideal for school runs and park rides. Single speed to keep pedalling simple for this age group.
Shyre Hopton 20
For 5–8 year olds ready to explore further afield. It’s designed for adventure, with a sturdy build that can handle a variety of terrains. 7-speed gearing and trigger shifters to help them learn progress in their riding skills, while a kickstand helps to make everything manageable.

Shyre Hopton 24
Aimed at 8–11 year olds with growing confidence and ambition. Great for weekend rides, family trails, or commuting to school. 7-speed gearing to keep pedalling efficient in undulating areas, and a kickstand makes it easy to prop up when the riding's over.
New models on the horizon
Shyre Bikes are going to introduce a 26" model to the Hopton range soon, so keep your eyes peeled if your youngster is about to outgrow their 24" bike.
The Eastie MTB range is due to come out later this year, just in time for Christmas. It will come in 20", 24" and 26" with a choice of two colours, and will be a high-spec off-road option with front suspension, wider tyres and disc brakes. These are for the more adventurous kids who need that extra quality to handle the tracks and trails in the shire (or further afield).
Is Shyre a good fit for your family?
If you're looking for a bike that sits between budget and premium brands, offering good value, well-considered design, and helpful aftercare, then Shyre is well worth a look. It’s a brand with big ambitions but grounded in practical family needs.
While still new to the scene, Shyre Bikes has already shown a strong commitment to quality and customer support. For families who want a reliable bike to help their little ones build skills and confidence, these could be a smart choice.
At Cycle Sprog, we’ll be keeping an eye on how their range develops and how they continue to support the next generation of riders. Keep your eyes peeled for a rider review, coming soon.
