Pinnacle Koa 14

The Pinnacle Koa 14 is a 14 inch wheel kids bike at the lower cost end of the 14″ wheel kids bike price spectrum, that used to be available from Evans Cycles prior to them being bought by Mike Ashley. The bike now appears to now be discontinued.

There are still some available second-hand however.

The lightweight aluminium frame with aluminium rims avoids this bike being too heavy. This will help your child feel more confident and in control on the bike, making it quite easy to move around.

The Koa 14 features some of the attributes we look for in a quality children’s bike. It features proportionately sized, micro-reach brake levers, handlebars and cranks.

Specialized Jett 16

The Jett 16 from Specialized has a great little addition that makes it different from most other kids bikes of this size.

How all the various components on a bike such as saddle, pedals and handlebar are configured can make a real difference to the comfort of the ride.  For example, a child with very long legs and a short body is going to benefit from  a different set up to a child with very short legs and a long body.

The bike has been designed with two positions for the pedals, meaning you can extend the length of the crank as your child’s legs grow.  This means you should get plenty of use out of this bike if you buy it when your child is towards the lower end of the size range.

We’ve reviewed the Specialized Jett 20 – a slightly larger geared version of this bike – and were very impressed with it’s performance in more urban settings, although it’s able to handle gentle off road riding too.

Btwin 16″ Discover 100

The B’TWIN Discover 100 16″ Kids’ Bike is designed for children aged 4 to 6 years, typically measuring between 105 cm and 125 cm tall.  It’s ideal for first-time riders graduating from balance bikes to pedals.

It features a steel frame that’s built to be simple, sturdy and easy to ride, helping little cyclists gain confidence on their early adventures.

This model has a low step-over frame, which makes it much easier for young riders to get on and off the bike independently. The adjustable handlebar and saddle height allow the bike to grow with your child, and it’s also compatible with stabilisers and child-friendly accessories like baskets and bells.

Priced at £139.99, the Discover 100 represents excellent value for money, offering a well-designed, child-friendly bike at an affordable price.

We haven’t reviewed this specific bike, but on Decathlon’s site, it holds an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 based on 84 reviews, with many parents giving 5/5 scores for compatibility, ergonomic design, preparation (assembly), and overall value.  We have however reviewed a number of BTwin bikes and have always been impressed with the value for money they offer.

Best 16" kids' bikes: in orange - the YOMO 16

YOMO 16

The YOMO 16 is a great choice bike if you’re looking for something a little bit different for your child.  The brand only launched in winter 2023, so there’s not many of these bikes around, so they’re bound to get people talking.

YOMO is the brainchild of a dad of two who has worked for years in the kids bike industry, which you can tell from the attention to detail on the specification.

We’ve been sent a larger geared bike to review and we’ve been very impressed, and reckon this bike will get your child smiling and pedalling in no time!

They’re also doing a stylish range of kids cycle helmets with a choice of both matt and glossy finish.

We’ve not reviewed this particular bike, but you can probably tell from the title of our review of it’s smaller sibling that we’re very impressed with these bikes!  YOMO 14 Review: Is this the perfect first pedal bike?

Islabikes Cnoc 14 Small

he Islabikes Cnoc 14 Small is a small framed 14″ wheel pedal bike and is suitable for children with an inside leg from just 34cm, making it a great starter bike for smaller and younger children.

Sadly Islabikes no longer make new bikes, but thankfully are still selling spare parts, making this a good secondhand option.

Islabikes attention to detail bordered on the obsessive with every component carefully designed for such a young rider. The pedals, the cranks, the brakes, the frame, the saddle, the list goes on and on – every bit of this bike has been designed for the size of the child riding it.

Because Islabikes are so well made, it’s going to be possible to find this bike second hand for quite some time and Islabikes are still selling spare parts and accessories to extend the life of these bikes.   Check out these Islabikes Cnoc 14’s on eBay.

Do be aware that the older Cnoc 14 only came in one size and newer versions came in a Small and Large.
