The BTWIN 20” Mountain Bike EXPL 900R has been reviewed by our testers and got the thumbs up!
Read our reviewBTWIN 20” EXPL 900R is a solid option for parents looking for a budget-friendly kids mountain bike that still offers good quality components and a durable design. It is built for adventurous children aged around 6 to 9 who are keen to explore off-road trails and paths.
The bike is on the heavier side for a 20” wheel bike at 9.9 kg, but our petite reviewer didn’t find this detrimental to the enjoyment of riding it.
The weight is kept down thanks to the choice of an aluminium frame, fork, and crankset.
A standout feature is the inclusion of mechanical disc brakes. This type of braking is powerful and progressive, giving your child confidence to stop quickly and safely, even when cycling in wet or muddy conditions. This is a significant upgrade often missing on bikes at this price point.
The BTWIN 20” EXPL 900R uses a simple and effective 8-speed 1x Microshift drivetrain. This means there is only one gear shifter to worry about, and the innovative Easytrigger design makes switching gears straightforward for smaller hands. This is a great introduction to gears without the complexity of a double or triple chain ring.
This bike uses wide, aggressive 2.2″ studded tyres that offer excellent grip and stability. These tyres work well on mixed terrains, compensating for the rigid aluminium fork by providing comfort and cushioning on gentle off-road paths.
